Former Long's to get Ace, Tuesday Morning
Ace Hardware will have a second Greeley location in 2008, and Tuesday Morning is on the move again.
Rick and Kristi Thomas, owners/managers of the Ace Hardware Greeley outlet in the University Square Shopping Center, 2626 11th Ave., plan to open a second location by Feb. 1 in the former Long's Drug location, 3540 10th St., in the Bittersweet Plaza Shopping Center.
Tuesday Morning, originally at 2812 10th St. when it opened, also will move across the street to Bittersweet Plaza from its present location on the northeast corner of 35th Avenue and 10th Street and take about a quarter of the space available in the former Long's Drug.
Rick Thomas said renovation of the former Long's is about 75 percent done and plans are to take 18,000 square feet of the building by Feb. 1.
"It's a rectangular building, so the layout will be about what we've got now, which makes it nice," said Thomas, who opened his first store in Greeley with his wife when Target departed University Square for Centerplace nearly five years ago. Long's closed several Colorado stores, including the Greeley location, early this year.
Thomas said the new store will employ about 20 people and be open seven days a week.
"This gives us a location in west Greeley to go along with what we consider our east Greeley location," Thomas said.
Meanwhile, Tuesday Morning, a closeout retailer, plans to take the remaining 6,000 square feet of the building, also in February.
First opened in Greeley about four years ago, Tuesday Morning moved to the Centennial Commons Shopping Center, 3485 10th St., more than a year ago. According to company officials, the new store is scheduled to reopen in its new location on Feb. 5, but that could change.
